Oh! She is these many months ! Why ain’t she sitting or crawling or standing or talking or something!?! The milestone queries are dime a dozen!
What no one really sees is the effort she is putting to learn to achieve each milestone! Especially the recent ones I.e crawling and talking .. Her every waking moment is spent either blabbering baby talk or perfecting her motor skills! She doesn’t want us to get a toy for her any longer! She ll take time but will eventually make it to the toy .. And the happiness after that is expressed so beautifully! She wants to be acknowledged for that and any bit of appreciation and encouragement is well received too…patience and perseverance for about a month or so has paid for the little girl.. Now she zips pasts us so quickly to all things that we don’t want her to touch, it’s amazing! more mobile he becomes , less I can protect her from harming herself ! But then I guess that’s how learning is!
I want to tell Vevina somehow to take it easy..it okay .. These milestones don’t really matter for me! But than I don’t think she is going to take any breaks now.. I slept enough mumma, she says.. Or As i interpret her ‘ atta thata dada’..

Wisemen say ‘Life is all about adjustments and compromises’ me will try to keep these two words away from Vevi as long as I can! 😀 she has to come across them sometime surely but not anywhere in the near future ..

P.s for the sake of records her first words are ‘attha’ and ‘dada’..

Haha anyone who has seen “andaz apna apna” will know what I am talking about 🙂 his famous dialog was ‘ har cheez time to time honi chahiye’ Vevina inadvertently is following the dialog to the tee..

I know some will say I and ammama made her so . But trust me, even we didnt think she ‘ll be so punctual.. Regular eating-sleeping times are fixed but what are funnily also fixed are : –taking bath… At around 10-10.15. Isnt it the most fun thing Eva! Water is soo mich fun but people always pull her out just when she s really starting to enjoy ..grrrr! –Going to check for post in the postbox at around 2-2.30. Yes we are proud to get mail and disappointed if nothing is there! So please snail mail Vevina 🙂 –watering ammama’s plants at around 5-5.30..well first they get watered and then we go in for the kill!

Daily one leaf belongs to Vevi :p plant version of PETA please pardon her! — at around 6.30 , it’s time to go to the park.. Well lot of friends await little Vevina there! –at around 8.30, her baba switches on the wii , she knows it and is delighted when the welcome music starts. She doesn’t get to see it yet but if sound itself is such a attraction, she surely is on her way be a game 🙂 My little one has a internal clock to beat all clocks at home. Why we the clocks and watches unnecessarily at home is a valid doubt anyone can have..

Disclaimer: below note is at the risk of sounding like toy saleswoman.. I love toys so much and what is best is that Vevi enjoys playing them… But amongst the many many toys that she has, I have noticed a few that stand out and hit the bull’s eye..

1) Gymmini activity gym : she has had some good times underneath this gym.. She started out by just staring at the hanging toys when she was 2 months…slowing she started reaching out for them, feeling them, grasping them and finally pulling one towards her to get pleasantly surprised by some sound or vibration the toy makes..every baby kicks ..they have cleverly placed a response pad near the feet,so that each time she kicks, she gets some sort of response..she finally used the hanging toys as a leverage to turn over.. Remarkable idea for a toy! Kudos to the designer!

2) fisher price precious planet bouncer Thanks again to the toy guys! There are some few minutes in the day where we need to run errands and the bouncer is the perfect solution . Double the advantage if it’s fun for the baby too. There s a toy bar with some pull to hear music toys that keeps her entertained and improves her gross motor skills..I love to see Vevi bouncing in her chair trying to grasp the monkey or the lion ..but strictly for 15 minutes..then she wants to move on to other important things.

3)leap frog learning baby tad the toad: This one is still being mastered by Vevi ..it’s a lil stuffed toad with buttons in all limbs and tummy..on pressing each ,a assorted nursery rhymes can be heard in a baby voice.. Tad was very helpful in the initial starting solids days..to keep Vevi engrossed in ABCs so much that any mush could be spooned in :p with relative ease..

4)moving doll What amazes little Vevi us how the lil doll crawls while song so effortlessly..tries are on full swing to imitate it or grab it! Future will tell!

5) balls: Any shape, any size do not fail to amaze us! Simplistic but real wonders aren’t they!?! Vevi’s research currently on how round they are and why do they roll when she throws them..she spends about a quarter of a day researching them.

I did warn you I ll be sounding like a toy saleswoman :p sowwie but I do believe toys form an integral part of a kids life and through Vevi ,I am just letting the kid in me enjoy too 😀

Its been a long time since I’ve written or wanted to write. There is only one reason..I don’t get permission from little miss. 😛 Biggest milestone to achieved as of yet is “me” “vevina” “vevi” “booboos” . She knows now she can rule the roost and How! Every waking moment is and by rule about her now.. otherwise we can see instant transformation of a cute little angel to a fist curling grumphing tomato 🙂

It is funny and frustrating at the same time.. you wanna laugh and give her a hug but at the same time you want to get mad at her too!I thought tantrums are for toddlers and I had time.. but nopes this Leo temper is some force to reckon with.. But ignore her temper and give her what she wants..you’ll thank God a hundred times for her.. If the anger is fireworks there is no less love around.. Pass her the just out of reach toy, give her her bottle or cup or just pick her up when she wants to be, you will be rewarded with the best smile in the world and a lot of pinches on your cheek 😀

She now moves like a top .. I think crawling is outta fashion ..too much of old generation thing..she just goes where ever she wants to go like a top.. “Its cool way mum! you dont know a thing” is the look she gives me when I tell her to crawl instead.. sigh! Yes fashion is huge on the agenda! Vevina is the official stylist for her ammama..No specs(she pulls them off with a great finnesse) and a few strand of hair always on forehead is the current style for her granny! 😛 Dont let the cute pics you see of her fool ya! I am still trying to capture the tantrums on camera but hey when she is red we do as she says not click pics!

Woah!! This is the decade that saw me grow from a baby girl to a baby woman ( Yeah ! its impossible to remove

the baby in me)

I started 2000 with a big dream of making it into medicine..wrote all entrances failed in many miserably but passed out barely in few..But then as usual I hit a crossroad in my mind.. take the Mbbs/BDS seat somehow or just leave it.. Well

I dont need to tell about the choice I made…

Then again I was at crossroads again with PG entrances in 2003.. go to a fancy outtatown College or the local Merit University..I chose last minute to stay with the local one ( read : with parents) . When I say last minute I mean it.. I ran out of the fancy college after all admissions were done and hostel arranged!! 😛

Then bang in another 2 years,2005 I was again at the oh-so-familiar road by now.. This timethe choice was between 2 jobs in hand : Technical  Writer or Software Engineer…again I came out on the Tech Writing job 2 days into it to take the job as a Software Engineer..

Yeah again in another  year or so  2007 ..yup.. crossroads again.. Choice was Abhishek or No Abhishek..hahaha 😛 Well again we all know that result too …

In 2008 .. the biggest change that happened was my wedding and finally I had to move out from my folk’s place..lol

THe decade is ending in the biggest possible change in my life : My little girl Vevina- I am a mother now.. baby mother!!

( Nopes still cant take the baby out of me even though One literally did!!!) Again I had the last crossroad of the decade-

To choose between being with my baby as a SAHM or being the juggling career woman!! Hmm I didnt break the trend,I

chose to stay at home on the last wee days of my extended-extended Maternity leave 🙂

If you notice the  trend mostly my last minute decisions are the best ! I am still continuing on that trend and hopefully they always hold good on me..!

P.S I like to call myself instinctive not indecisive 😀

P.S I hijacked Vevina’s blog just for this once 🙂 Sorry Vevi!

P.S People tagged in this note very well know why!!

If nothing else ,at-least let me boast of Vevina’s punctuality.. that internal clock is working wonders..she just turned 4 months on 5th December.. We were just wondering over the weekend when would she turn over.. maybe in the 5th month or 6th month I mused.. She started turning 90 degrees from about 15-16 days.. Whenever  we’d put her on the floor , she’ll start trying really hard to do something..

Amazing how she would turn 90 degrees and fall back and try again over and over. Sometimes it would worry me that she’ll hurt herself. But then it is the first of many times I’ll feel that and hold myself from picking her up..she is growing up and how!! lol

We thought it will take time for her because of the timing. It is suddenly a lil cold in Hyderabad. So not only we had her in diapers but extra clothing too.. Everything ought to make it difficult for her but she didnt give up at all.

Finally on 4th December, she turned around completely, suddenly and lifted her head to see us..her expressions said it all.. look at me I DID IT!! In telugu customs , we make sweets to mark the event .. so mum did that quickly.. It was like she does all the hardwork and we got to eat sweets..hehehe

Now that the first step is taken, is she taking time off to relax? Nopes now that position is attained ,she wants to move! NOW!

It is funny that no one
really questions if I can really take care of a three month old…it comes nAturally they say motherhood…but well I am learning it and it didn’t come naturally to me. But now we have a ritual.each morning after daddy leaves, we have a little heart to heart chat (right now she s an Amazing listener). Then we do some tummy time together. Tummy times are tiring so she naps while I finish off some household work. Madam gets up for lunch and if it even a minute late, won’t have lunch. Then it takes a lot of songs and nursery rhymes to apologise and stuff ,err, feed HRH. every once in a while she rewards me with a chuckle or two. Then it’s playtime and puppy cow n other toys are eagerly waiting in the gym for her. she is meanwhile still perturbed that they are still out there and not in her tummy. The hunt continues after the silly animals (they ll be history once the girl knows to grab and remember). It takes some effort ya know..haath aaaya par moo nahi laga..that’s leaves us tired and a bit hungry.we make do with milk for the time being and plan hunting in the nap time. After the nap it’s time to help mom cook dinner.she sits in her bouncer and supervises the cooking. Uff she wonders why don’t these people eat simple meals like me,what’s with all those spices?!?
Now she wonders where’s that person who made funny faces in the morning..I could do with some new entertainment, she thinks. Sometimes Akka and Anna from the floor below come but they really don’t know still how to play with HRH..
Aaha the bell rings and daddy s here. Look how she d make a cute lil smiley face and any complain that mum has against her goes unheard…

This definitely doesn’t happen anywhere else.. Thanks to the cultural and linguistic vastness of India 🙂

By birth,I belong to the  state Andhra Pradesh which in turn is being split into Telengana and Seemandhra ( God Forbid!) . By upbringing , I think I belong to Dilli.. But then again I ve had my turbulent teens in aamchi Mumbai.. Dad’s trasferrable job was FUN!

By Birth, my husband belongs to the state of Maharastra from Vidharbha region migrated to Mumbai..

In Andhra , it is still sets tongues wagging when a reddy or a naidu  girl marries a brahmin boy or vice versa.. its downright scandulous to do so.. So me marrying a Maharastrian is well stuff that gossipmiller’s heaven is made up off.. 😀

Well anyway this aint about me! Afterall its a baby blog!

My Vevina is born in Telengana.. so firstly by birth she is a Telengana Powri.. nextly she is a Deshpande.. so she is a Marathi mulgi and somewhere from me she is a Andhra Aadapoduchu.. I dare also add she is some 0.1% dilli ki kudi too..

While some might see chaos at work here but I see  Opportunity for her..

*) She automatically picks up 4 languages ( Marathi,Telugu,Hindi and English). She may not need the Idea help afterall

*) She gets the best of all cultures and best of mithais on all the additional festivals 😉

*) She has aaji, ajoba and ammama-thatha (no confusion there :D).

*) She is a local for all sorts of exams in Andhra and Maharastra.

*) Who can boost of having both a mother-tongue and a father-tongue 😉

*) She can for a change call herself an Indian rather than from a particular state.. ( slight Desh Bhakti )

I cant think of more at this time but Vevina is up from her afternoon nap and well she doesnt really care for the states

and languages at the moment.. Its uunnnnggaaaaaaaaaaaa time!

Lol I had fun throughout the 9 months – the Boy or Girl- suspense is good..Good that India has banned ultrasounds to predict the gender..

There were many people, telling me many tales pointing to either Baby Boy or Baby Girl..

Now I am having fun seeing some of these tales are actually correct in my case..

1) Heartbeats : You’re having a girl, then the fetal heart rate will be above 140. A boy will have a heart rate below 140.

Bang on my lil one always was above 140..

2)Weight Gain: This is funny! If your husband puts on weight during your pregnancy, then you will be having a girl. If he doesn’t put on a  pound, then you’re carrying a boy.

Erm! I think Bingo again 😛

3)Acne:If you have acne while pregnant, it’s a girl.

not much.. Myth I guess..

4) Cravings: If you crave for savoury (chatpatta) stuff than it’s a girl. If you like sweets during the pregnancy than it’s a boy.

The only time i ever liked sweets is during my pregnency..

5) Formula: Compare your age at conception with the year of conception. If both are even or odd, it will be a girl; if one is even and one is odd, it will be a boy

Wow bingo!

6) Morning Sickness: If you have morning sickness early in pregnancy, it’s sure to be a girl.

Wrong ! I mean if early mean 3rd month then maybe right!

7) Hair Color: If you get red highlights in your hair, you’ll have a girl.

Haha I got mahogany last sep.. not anywhere close..

I guess there are many more but these are the ones that stuck! n It was really fun listening to these myths with wide eyes and believing in what I wanted to believe..:D

Marvel that a baby is:

We think they know nothing and so fragile and little …but no.. they are fitted with God s ingenius gifts.

My 26 day old daughter  came blessed with what are the most and only essential things needed to live life and enjoy!

She know how to feed and how to tell me she is hungry –

She knows how to breathe and how to fight of the stray blanket or bib near her nose –

She knows how to smile and when to smile

-when she is full and after a burp.

-when she is done pooping (what a relief)

-when mom finally listens to her pleas and takes her for a feed.

( oh yeah her plea cries are so heartbreaking-

you d do  anything after hearing that)

She know how to protect herself from falling ( when she thinks you didnt pick her up well) -you should see how strong her grasp is.

She knows how to sleep and how much to sleep blissfully.

She knows when to get up and let the world know.

She knows what she wants and will do only what she thinks should be done at the given moment ( yeha! already)

She can entertain herself when she wants alone and without any gizmos or toys..

Every moment with her is teaching me something about enjoying little things in life ! n here I thought I will be teaching her stuff..:)
